EXPIRY 30/10/2018

2mL syringe

Inactivated Salmonella typhimurium, Aluminium hydroxide adjuvant, Thiomersal preservative

2mL deep intramuscular, preferably into the rump. Foals born to vaccinated mares will normally receive protective antibodies through the colostrum which can be expected to provide protection through to approximately 4 months of age. Primary vaccination can then be commenced, with 2 injections given 4 weeks apart. For an optimal immune response in foals a third injection is required 6 months after the second. Previously vaccinated mares should be given a booster 6 weeks prior to foaling. Unvaccinated, pregnant mares should be given 2 doses, 4 weeks apart, with the second no later than 6 weeks prior to foaling. Previously unvaccinated and non-pregnant mares should be given 2 doses of vaccine 4 weeks apart prior to mating. Do not vaccinate stallions and horses in training.

Injection into the neck is not recommended. If the vaccine is injected into the neck the horse may have difficulty feeding, particularly off the ground, for a few days. Vaccination is not recommended within 4 weeks of expected birth. Do not vaccinate stallions and horses in training.
