What is K-SORB?
K-SORB is a ready-to-use potassium sorbate solution, a
food preservative used in the human food industry which
inhibits bacterial growth. Hygienic collection of colostrum
is essential to ensure the bacterial contamination is as low
as possible at the outset.
1L K-SORB preserves 100L of colostrum at a rate of 10mL K-SORB per 1L of Colostrum
Directions for use:
• K-SORB should be added to fresh colostrum immediately after collection.
• In a clean container, estimate the volume of colostrum to be treated with K-SORB.
• Using the table add the recommended volume of K-SORB to the known volume of colostrum.
• Ensure the K-SORB is thoroughly mixed with the colostrum.
• Refrigerate at 4oC and store for no more than 7 days.
